Ashur state will rise again

  • The Ashur Nation (Assyrian) has been in existence for morethan 2000 years BC. The Assyrian are indigenous to what is ow Iraq and in their early history they constituted the majority in Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, Syria and Turkey which ultimately coprised the vAshurian Empire. With the fall of Nineveh in 612 BC and Babylon in 539 Ashur as a political entity wasc destroyed. But the Ashur nation lives.

  • During the course of time the Ashur nation was gradually surround by Islamic states which began tom systematically oppress our people. Genocidal practices occurred under Ottoman Empire in 1787, 1843, 1914-1923. Massacres were also carried out by the Iraqi government in northern Iraq in 1933.

  • Once again we find the Ashur nation suffering again with more than 200 people being expelled from their homes from Mosul and surrounding cities and villages by. ISIS terrorism against our people was aided and abetted by the Iraqi Kurds, Who without warning withdrew the Kurdish defense forces (peshmerga) from our living areas in northern Iraq, leaving the defenceless Ashur people vulnerable to the ISIS onslaught. This seemingly coordinated action feeds our suspicion that the kurds conspired with ISIS to help rid the region of the last remnant of the Ashur (Assyrian) nation.

  • The Ashur nation aspires to self-determination. A first step in this regard is the creation of protected zone under the name of Ashur rgion of northern Iraq. This would also include the Yezidi and shabac tribes. Not a new idea, the notion was put forth in 2006 at the stockholm conference. Leaders of the Ashur Region of northern Iraq would be chosen from the Ashurian diaspora as well as from those still living inside our ancient homland. At the same time we are mindful that some representatives of the Ashur nation are accepting mony from Kurdish leaders in exchange for keeping silent about the plight of our people. We view such representatives as taitors and they will have no voice in the formation of a new and independent Ashur.

  • We need military training for our people, Babylon Institue help lead this effort to help protect us from future atrocities.

  • An dditional step in the creation of an independent Ashur nation in northern Iraqis toset a parliament -in -exile. This idea has resonated positively withen the Ashurian diaspora including those in Australia, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Great Britian, Holand, U.S.A and Sweden.

  • Lastly we arev mindful that a number of clerics have split the Ashur nation into various groups within the greater Ashur community including the Syric and Chaldian churches. By doing so they deny their roots in the Ashur nation and foster division and resentment.
